JEM 2012 Contributor Release Form

A Few Simple Rules

1) Absolutely NO stolen, “borrowed” or copyrighted work, including the photos I often see posted on your FB pages covered with watermarks, which is the professional photographers way of indicating that it should be purchased before you have the right to use it. If you love the work they do, support their efforts by purchasing the photos you most love- photography is their livelihood, the way they live and pay their bills. Think how you would feel if you were selling your photos and some of the subjects took them and began using without your permission- would it bother you?

2) All contributors must submit a release (click link at top of page). Minors must have theirs signed by a parent or guardian giving you permission to contribute your work (articles, photos, videos, etc) to Junior Equestrian Magazine.

3) To be considered an ACTIVE JEM Contributor, you must participate on at least a monthly basis (1 post/mth) If you are unable to post yourself, you may send me your article, etc and/or photos and I will do this for you. If you are MIA for over the period of 30 days/1 mth and I do not hear from you, you’ll be removed from JEM Contributor status- but we still LOVE you and want to keep you as a Subscriber. :)

3.5) Do not abuse your contributor privilege by using it to hurt, slander or otherwise harm others. This also applies to use of the Forum or comments around the site.

4) Find your creative side and join the fun- share your work with other readers (fictional/non-fictional stories, poems, art, photos, videos, etc)

Randi Heathman - 'Ask The Coach' (Equestrian College Advisor)

I have a B.A. in English and an M.A. in communication studies. I have honed my craft as a college admission professional at Albion College (Albion, Michigan) while also working extensively with their equestrian teams and program from their inception in 2004. In fact, the roots of the Albion riding program stem from my student Honors thesis, “Enhancing Education through Equitation: A Promotional Plan for an Equestrian Facility at Albion College.” Over time, I gained valuable experience in working with students and their families through the college search and enrollment process while also obtaining extensive expertise regarding intercollegiate riding as a whole – the very same expertise that today enables me to serve the needs of my clients. I am one of the only practicing independent educational consultants who can include both enrollment- and equestrian-related experiences on my resume.

I am an associate member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), and travel to many college campuses each year so that I can best serve the needs of my students. I am also a member of the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) and the United States Dressage Federation (USDF) and am a USDF bronze medalist.

I just got home from the Young Rider Endurance World Championships. It was an experience of a lifetime and I can’t wait to share my experience with you as a blogger for Junior Equestrian Magazine.
I have been riding since I was about 5 and started out showing on the Arabian Circuit. I moved out of the show ring and onto the endurance trails across North America. I am very lucky to have parents that support me & my sisters in this great sport that has been my ticket to see our great country on the back of a horse.
